Since it has been some time since my last post, it's high time to bring everyone up to date as to what we've been up to. 2020 has been, to say the least, interesting for us!
January and February were relatively "normal". We were fairly busy with our usual gigs at Seniors' facilities, as well as a couple church functions and worship services. Then, in March, the Covid 19 pandemic hit, forcing pretty much all of our music business to come to a crashing halt.
The week of Monday March 9th is when it all started. Even though the official shutdown hadn't happened yet, we started getting phone calls from Seniors' homes canceling bookings with us. We had two or three gigs that week, and one or two of them asked us questions about where we've been, or if we've traveled anywhere before we performed. On Sunday March 15, our family led worship at our church. That next week, everything officially stopped.
For the next week or so, we had one phone call after another of cancelations. At that time, we didn't know how long to anticipate being without work. It wasn't long, however, before it was evident that it would be a long time. Though the Pandemic isn't exactly what we had in mind when we considered a break, this has been a Godsend for us.
Through God’s provision of generous monetary gifts from family & friends over the past seven months, we have been able to take a break and brainstorm other alternatives to how we make a living. With the encouragement from family, friends and loyal fans, we have come up with a new idea...
A YouTube Channel! We’re calling it West Family Music.
We hope to upload a couple of videos a week featuring our music. Each video will be about 10 minutes long. I will do some Old time fiddling and some singing with Angie accompanying me on the piano, the girls may even do some singing, and who knows, there may be other surprises thrown in for you! Please watch for our first video, and if you enjoy what you hear, please “LIKE, SHARE and SUBSCRIBE to our channel… Please follow my Facebook Page, Craig West...
Thanks for your interest, and we look forward to sharing some of our music as we continue to navigate this crazy “new normal” we live in...
